KATHMANDU, May 3: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ)’s central convention commenced today in Kathmandu, inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The two-day event, being held at the National City Hall, began with a procession from Shanti Batika to the National Assembly.

Key agendas of the convention include discussions on the organizer role by FNJ General Secretary Roshan Puri and the financial proposal by Treasurer Kalendra Sejuwal. These proposals are expected to be presented and debated for approval.
According to the FNJ statute, new leadership will be elected one month after the central convention. The central committee has already decided to conduct FNJ elections on June 1, implementing direct election practices.
Ballot boxes will be placed in central, provincial, and district committee branches for direct voting.
Before the elections, the FNJ's membership criteria will be determined by the Purification Committee and the Organization Committee, expected to be finalized by mid-May.
