JAJARKOT, Aug 1: Police have arrested Sabin Chand, 33 of Bheri municipality-4 for his alleged involvement in raping a 13-year-old ninth grader of Bheri municipality-2. The police are also searching for another person, Rupak Chand from the same municipality.

In a statement recorded at the District Police Office, the child’s mother said that her daughter was initially lured with Smartphone, money and watch. When the girl didn’t fall into the trap, they kidnapped and raped her for two days in a local hotel.

“We arrested Chand based on the statement,” acting police chief of Jajarkot, Indra Jit Sunar said. He added that they had already initiated legal action against Chand, the alleged rapist.

“We’ve also intensified our search to arrest Rupak Chand,” Sunar said. “Rupak has been accused of raping the child’s cousin.”

However, the victims’ families have said that they’ve some local leaders and representatives were making efforts not to register the case against rape.

The 13 year child had gone to Khalanga to find a room which she’d live in to pursue her education.

“Two people came and said they’d help me find a room at a hotel in Shanti Chautara of Khalanga Bazaar. However, they held me for two days and raped me,” the child said. She added that they initially made efforts to lure her. However, when she didn’t fall into the trap, they threatened to murder her.

Rupak promised the 15 year child that he'd marry her. Instead, she was raped by Rupak and Sabin for the same number of days. Following the incident, the families said that they were being pressurized to back off from the case and reconcile.

“When my daughter didn’t return home after two days, we informed the police. The police found them in a hotel where they had been raped,” one of the victim’s father said. He maintained that the culprits must be booked.

“My daughter has been raped in a locked room. Yet, some people want us to reconcile,” the father said in tears. He also repented the dire state where opinion leaders favored the rapists and asked the victims to reconcile.

In tears, the mother of the 15 year child said, “I have no one and neither do I have sufficient money to fight the case. Who would fight for the justice of my child?”
