UDAYAPUR, August 11: A week ago, police recovered the dead body of 17-year-old Krisla Chaudhary who had been missing since July 28. The body was found half buried near the banks of the Ratmatey River on August 3. At the time, the body was sent to the district hospital for a postmortem as the body had become unidentifiable.

The dead body was recognized by the victim’s father Prem Kumar Chaudhary after examining the digital watch, necklace, thread on the foot and clothes found with the dead body.

The victim’s face has been speculated to be splashed with acid and raped before brutally murdering her. However, police have not been able to find any lead into the case. According to police, investigation into the case is still underway but they have been unsuccessful in finding the culprit behind the murder. The family members of the victim said it was simply unjust that the authorities could not find the culprit even after a week of the incident.

The police’s failure to collect evidence and nab the culprit has created a sense of mistrust among the public. Ward chairperson Nirmal Kumar Chaudhary has urged the police to get to the bottom of the incident as soon as possible.

According to Madhukar Thapa, a local resident, Krisla might be subjected to gang rape before her murder due to the condition of the corpse.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Subash Chandra Bohara of the district police office, three people have been taken into custody for investigation into the incident. He said that the police are looking for the culprit through every possible way.

Similarly, another murder case which took place on July 21 has not been solved so far. 65-year-old Mahikar Chaudhary of Triyuga Municipality-8 was found dead at her home. She had been attacked with a Khukhuri. The police have taken a 45-year-old Kisan Sada into custody for investigation into the incident.

According to police, Sada and Chaudhary had a minor quarrel before both of them went to sleep. Chaudhary was found dead the next morning with a deep cut in her neck. Although, police arrested Sada along with the murder weapon, more details regarding the incident are yet to be disclosed, police informed Republica.
