Two Nepali students killed in Japan truck-bus collision

KATHMANDU, May 18:  Two Nepali students,  who went to study in Japan, have been killed in a tragic road accident.

KATHMANDU, May 18:  Two Nepali students,  who went to study in Japan, have been killed in a tragic road accident.


According to the Japan Times, they were killed when a truck hit a bus that had stopped due to engine trouble on the Tohoku Expressway in Kurihara, Miyagi Prefecture on Tuesday night. The bus driver also died in the accident.

According to local time, the accident took place around 8:30 pm on Tuesday night.


There were 39 Nepali students and one Bangladeshi student in the bus. They were going to Ichinoseki in Iwate for part-time work.


The driver stopped the bus on the road after the engine broke down. According to the Japan Times, the speeding truck hit the back of the bus as students on board got out of the bus after it stopped.


The identities of the deceased Nepali students have not been released yet.
