Two rhinos found dead in CNP

CHITWAN, May 11: Two rhinos have been found dead in the Chitwan National Park (CNP). The dead rhinos were found in different places during two days.

CHITWAN, May 11: Two rhinos have been found dead in the Chitwan National Park (CNP). The dead rhinos were found in different places during two days.


According to the CNP,  a four-month-old female rhinoceros was found dead in the Kasara area of Tamor Lake on May 9 and a two-and-a-half-year-old male rhinoceros was found dead on the banks of the Rapti River in the Sauraha area on the following day.

According to the park's Assistant Conservation Officer Mahesh Neupane, both the rhinos died of natural causes. The four-month-old female rhino was yet to grow a horn. He said that its hoofs are also safe.


It is mentioned in the statement signed by Neupane that the horn and hoofs of the male rhinoceros, too, are safe. Along with this, 18 rhinos have died in the current fiscal year in Chitwan National Park and the surrounding areas.
