KATHMANDU, May 28: Two petrol stations were sealed following a monitoring carried out this morning under the command of Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Matrika Prasad Yadav.
A market monitoring team comprising Director General at the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology Bishwababu Pudasaini, minister's personal secretary Santosh Bista and technical human resources from the Nepal Oil Corporation monitored five petrol pumps in the Kathmandu Valley and sealed two among them.
19 petrol pumps face action
Ekantakuna-based Prashanti Oil Distributor and Chapagaun Dobato-based Mahalaxmi Oil Center were found violating the business operation standards and financially cheating customers, according to Bista.
The Prashanti was supplying 30 ml less in the distribution of per 10 liters of petrol products while the Mahalaxmi was reducing 40 ml in the supply of per 10 liters. Minor weaknesses were reported in other three petrol pumps and they were warned to meet the standards.
The Ministry said that it would continue the market monitoring for the welfare of consumers and such works would be expanded to other areas as well in the future.
