KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Top leaders of the major three political parties have reached an agreement to resume the parliament meeting. The main opposition party agreed to let the constitution amendment bill enter the House following a Supreme Court (SC)’s ruling on the bill.
The leaders reached the agreement during a meeting of Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of parliament called by Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar on Tuesday. With the agreement, the meeting of parliament slated for today has been postponed till 1 pm on Sunday.
According to Parliamentary Party leader of Akhanda Nepal Party, Kumar Khadka, the parties reached the agreement to resume parliament meeting after Opposition holds its protest assembly.
Nine political parties including the UML are scheduled to hold a protest assembly in the Capital City on Friday.
According to sources, parties agreed to take out the issue of changes in provincial boundaries from the bill.
Earlier today, a Standing Committee meeting of the main opposition party concluded that the ruling by the apex court proved UML’s stand and the constitutional provision that provincial boundaries can’t be altered without approval from federal assemblies.
