KATHMANDU, March 20: The parliamentary party meeting of the ruling CPN-UML has decided to take action against the lawmakers who chose to boycott the parliamentary party meeting held at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday.

UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai said the PP meeting has decided to seek clarification from senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and lawmakers close to him. The UML Parliamentary Board will seek clarification from those boycotting the PP meeting.

UML Chairman K P Oli has accused the Nepal-led faction of promoting factionalism and carrying out parallel activities against the party’s discipline.

Earlier, the Nepal-led faction had organized a national gathering of the party cadres and leaders in Kathmandu from March 17-18. Chairman Oli had then warned of action against those participating in the factional gathering organized against the party's directives.

A group of 38 lawmakers had earlier today submitted a memorandum to Chairman Oli demanding that the PP meeting be held at the party’s PP Office in Singha Durbar. Oli then had said that he would not listen to lawmakers on an individual basis but not on the basis of a faction.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman Oli said that all those boycotting the PP meeting would face disciplinary action if they did not make self-criticism and start attending other meetings of the party. Oli said that those violating party’s discipline will face action.

Meanwhile, the UML Central Committee meeting held after the PP meeting decided to seek clarification from five leaders. Sources said the CC meeting has decided to seek clarification from senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Bhim Rawal, Surendra Pandey, Ghanashyam Bhusal, and Ram Kumari Jhankri.
