Undersecretary KC returns to probe committee

KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Birendra Bahadur KC, Under secretary and member of the high level probe team on rape and murder of Nirmala Pant, who had walked out the team, has returned to the team. 


Undersecretary at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law in Province 7, Mr KC organized a press meet at the Home Ministry today and said the misunderstanding surfaced with the team was cleared after holding talks with the Home Minister, Secretary and senior officials this morning.

He argued, "The Home Minister and he had similar stand in terms of taking action against the culprit. Because of the communication gap, the understanding was different. Now, I return to the team." 


According to him, he was assured of any kind of support for the security by the Ministry. "If I remained in the probe team and contributed, the fair investigation could be ensured, and it the compulsory for the civil servants to carry out the responsibility handed by the government. So, I became ready to return to the team," he mentioned in the press release. 


He also shared the plight that he was threatened of life while conducting the investigation on the rape and murder incident. The Home Ministry had formed a five member probe team under the coordination of Joint Secretary Hari Prasad Mainali to study and investigate the rape and murder of Nirmala Pant in Kanchanpur.
