USA to send 1.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal today

KATHMANDU, July 10: The United States of America (USA) is to send 1.5 million doses of Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines on Saturday.


According to news reported by Reuters quoting a spokesperson of the White House, the USA is scheduled to send 1.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines today.

US Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry said the US will donate at no cost to Nepal enough vaccines to fully vaccinate 1.5 million people in the coming days. “I could not be any prouder of our 73-year long partnership. America will always stand with Nepalis, and we will continue to work tirelessly to improve their lives,” Ambassador Berry tweeted.


Earlier, the US President Joe Biden had announced plans to provide 80 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to poor and destitute countries.


The USA is also shipping 500,000 doses of Moderna vaccines to Bhutan also.
