Valley CDOs’ meeting underway to decide on lockdown extension

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Chief district officers (CDOs) of the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley are holding a meeting on Tuesday afternoon to decide whether to extend the ongoing prohibitory orders in the Valley.


Today’s meeting will primarily analyze the effectiveness of the ongoing prohibitory orders and also decide on its further extension or relaxation.

The three district administration offices (DAOs) had earlier enforced a week-long prohibitory orders starting on August 19 midnight, which was extended for another two weeks. The extended orders are due to end on Wednesday midnight.  The prohibitory order was slightly eased starting last Wednesday allowing operation of construction related business between 2 pm to 9pm  and home delivery service.


The Valley has been witnessing at least 300 cases a day despite almost three-week long lockdown orders. According to the data compiled by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 8,254 cases were confirmed in the Valley as of Monday including those 6,082 diagnosed since the enforcement of the prohibitory orders in the Valley.
