KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Veteran singer and music composer Bhakta Raj Acharya has passed away on Monday. He was 82.
He died while being taken to Mediciti Hospital, Lalitpur on Monday afternoon. According to family sources, his son Swaroop Raj Acharya and composer Hari Lamsal were taking him to Mediciti Hospital after his oxygen level suddenly decreased at around 4:30 PM but did not make it to the hospital.

Born in Dhankuta in 1999, Acharya has a special place in Nepali music industry. He is a contemporary singer of Swar Samrat Narayan Gopal. Acharya's Mutu Jalirahechha, Jati Chott Dinchhau, Jaha Chhan Buddhaka Ankha, Hazaar Sapanaharu, Maya Meri Saajh Bihana are among the popular songs of Nepal. He has also sung dozens of hymns. During his lifetime, Acharya has given voice and music to nearly 400 songs.
The octogenarian singer, who is also known by the title of Bhajan Shiromani, is said to have been consuming milk alone for the last 30 years. Last Dashain, he accidently fell and injured his head.
