Wife turns to drug trafficking to collect bail amount for her husband

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: In a recent operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of Nepal Police, a 39-year-old woman was found to be involved in trafficking pharmaceutical drugs in order to collect bail amount for her husband who was sent to jail in a similar charge few months back.

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: In a recent operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of Nepal Police, a 39-year-old woman was found to be involved in trafficking pharmaceutical drugs in order to collect bail amount for her husband who was sent to jail in a similar charge few months back.



The woman has been identified as Bimala Thapa Hussain of Lele in Lalitpur district and was arrested from Naya Bazaar of Kathmandu in possession of 29 ampoules of Buprenorphine, 39 ampoules of Diazepam and 44 ampoules of Phenergan on December 29. 



During investigation, it was revealed that the woman was involved in the racket to fill the gap left by her husband Mansur Hussain after he was convicted by the Kathmandu District Court last year. The court had slapped an imprisonment of 3 years and six months along with a penalty of Rs 200,000 on October 3, 2016. The husband was arrested from Mali Petrol Pump in Teku in possession of 220 ampoules of Buprenorphine and 220 ampoules of Diazepam in September 2015.



Inspector Ghanashyam Shrestha of the NCB said, "The woman was found involved in the same network of racketeers that her husband was involved with." 



Based on the information provided by the arrested, two Indian youths were arrested in possession of pharmaceutical drugs from Kalimati of Kathmandu on Monday. The arrested have been identified as Bikki Kumar Singh, 18, and Sanjit Kumar Singh, 17, of East Champaran Bishunpurwa of India.
