Wild elephants enter village in Mikaljung at night, damage property

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: A group of as many as 13 wild elephants entered a village in Miklajung Rural Municipality of Morang on Monday night and damaged private property. After the herd of elephants entered the village, the villagers stood on a vigil all night in fear.

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: A group of as many as 13 wild elephants entered a village in Miklajung Rural Municipality of Morang on Monday night and damaged private property. After the herd of elephants entered the village, the villagers stood on a vigil all night in fear.

Locals said that a herd of elephants entered the village and damaged the private property in the village which is located next to the Charkose Jhadi, one of the biggest jungles in the country. Last night in Miklajung-6, over a dozen elephants entered the village and damaged three houses.


Even on Monday night, the herd of elephants destroyed 20 tons of paddy belonging to Hari Subedi, a villager. The tuskers also damaged Subedi's house.
