UDAYAPUR, Dec 7: The son of a woman arrested for allegedly murdering her husband, a few days ago, has also been taken into custody.
The son was arrested on Wednesday, following the statement provided by Nirkumari Rai, the wife of the deceased. Nirkumari Rai was arrested on charges of murdering 60-year-old Shyam Kumar Rai from Triyuga Municipality-5 Damauti Shuklai on the night of December 2.
Amid a domestic dispute, 40-year-old Nirkumari strangled her husband to death and subsequently transported his body to a forest located 500 meters above their residence. She buried the body in a pit and covered it with leafy twigs. Police found the body three days later.
Murder accused arrested from Dhading
Interestingly, Nirkumari had claimed that her husband had gone missing after he went for grazing cattle a day ago.
Following her arrest and subsequent detainment at the District Police Office, Udayapur, Nirkumari confessed to taking her husband's body to the forest and burying it with the assistance of her son, Suran.
According to DSP Harinandan Chaudhary, the Information Officer of the District Police Office, a domestic dispute erupted between the couple around 5:00 in the evening on December 2.
DSP Chaudhary clarified that while Nirkumari did not have the intention to kill, she was in a disoriented state after the fatal altercation with her husband. The revelation about transporting and burying the body in the forest with her son's help came from her confession.
The son has been taken into custody, and an investigation has been initiated based on his mother's disclosure.
