KATHMANDU, April 6: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has said that offices or projects led by women maintain transparency and good governance.
Speaking at a discussion held at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday afternoon with the objective of collecting women's suggestions to budget formulation, Finance Minister Sharma said that the budget would try to address the issue of making women self-reliant.

“Economic independence, including self-esteem, is the key. Education and health are essential conditions for this," he said. "I see that if women's access to education and health is increased, the goal to educate society will be achieved soon." He said that the homework of the budget was to raise awareness in society by involving ordinary women to end violence against women.
Similarly, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Uma Regmi complained that a very low budget has been allocated for women. She suggested an end to the practice of women in Kailali having to go to Singha Durbar to get justice, establishment of at least one maternity hospital in each province, development of women entrepreneurship, and formulation of separate policies for women in rural and urban areas. The discussion was attended by two dozen women leaders, engineers, media persons and entrepreneurs representing different sectors.
