KATHMANDU, Mar 6: Renowned litterateur Indra Bahadur Rai, who is also one of those who propounded the Lila Lekhan and Teshro Aayam style in Nepali literature, passed away Tuesday evening in Siliguri, West Bengal in India.
He was 90. His grandson Ramesh Rai, who lives in Kirtipur, confirmed the death. He is survived by his son and two daughters as well as grandchildren

Rai, who had been ailing after he lost his wife Mayadevi last year, had been receiving medication continuously, according to fellow-writer Ratnamani Nepal. According to him, Rai had come to Kathmandu for eye treatment 10 months ago.
“Though he became quite weak following the death of his wife, he remained concerned about the further enrichment of literature with eastern values,” said Nepal. “He had a wealth of knowledge of world literature and eastern literary theories and stood out with his writing style,” said Nepal.
Born in Kurseong, Rai did his master's in English literature and later started teaching this subject. Rai published his anthology of poems entitled “Bipana Katipaya” in 1961 and later penned novels and several anthologies of various literary works. His other noted works include Aaja Ramita Chha, Kathaputaliko Man, Kathastha, Pahad ra Khola and Darjeelingma Nepali Natakko Ardhasatabdi.
