KATHMANDU, Jan 22: Yatri 2.0, a travel photo exhibition, came to an end on Sunday. A group of young photographers, musicians and poets of Kathmandu put up a travel photo exhibition and musical shows to collect funds for cataract surgeries.
The exhibition was hosted by Bikalpa Art Center. Yatri was initiated last year by Kaushal Sapkota, a photographer, traveler and high-school educator. The team was able to generate more than Rs. 250000 for the ‘Winter Drive of Nepal Share’ in the first year.
This year’s exhibition raised funds for 100 cataract surgeries. Proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to project ‘Make Me See’ and Sagarmatha Chaudhary Eye Hospital in Lahan.
The exhibition had 25 pictures that Kaushal Sapkota took during his travels in Nepal, India, Pakistan and the United States. Photos were for sale and were priced at Rs.5000 each.
Team Yatri infused music and poetry with photography. Most of Kaushal Sapkota’s works are exhibited as a tribute to Lebanese-American poet Kahlil Gibran. The three-day long event also witnessed Sufi performance by Ankit Babu Adhikari, jazz performance by Sneha Yonjan and poetry by Alok Lamsal and Avijeet Das.
