KATHMANDU, April 26: Karl Marx Birth Bicentennial Celebration Committee, an organization established on the initiation of four communist parties of Nepal, has decided to familiarize the principle of Marxism to 10,000 youths on May 4 and 5 on the occasion of the 200th birthday of German philosopher Karl Marx.

Organizing a press conference on Wednesday, the committee informed that a national-level interaction program will be organized in the capital on May 4 and 5 on the topic 'Today's Marxism: Democracy-Prosperity and Socialism' to celebrate the 200th birthday of Marx. The committee will also run classes to impart the principles of Marxism to 10,000 youths across the country.

A press statement issued by the committee states that the interaction program will hold discussions on the challenges relating to the merger of the two communist parties - CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) - and the role of the new government in the promotion of socialism.

“The current debate of development in the country mainly deals with infrastructural development and it seems like the debate has overshadowed the debate of human-centric development. We want to raise the issue in the interaction program,” said CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal, who is the coordinator of the committee.
