POKHARA, Kaski, Dec 7 : Nepal won a bronze medal in the cricket tournament under the ongoing 13th South Asian Games (SAG).
In the match held today in Pokhara for the third position, Nepal beat the Maldives by 10 wickets to secure the bronze. Maldives winning the toss chose to bat first and scored just a total score of eight runs in 11.3 overs at the loss of all wickets.

Nepal met the general target given by the Maldives in the second ball of first over with no loss of any wickets. Anjali Chand alone took four wickets by giving just one run in four overs, winning the title of 'Player of the Match'.
Roma Thapa contributed five runs to the team while Kajal Shrestha scored two runs and remaining two runs were awarded to the team in wide. Nepali Team coach Jagat Tamata commented that though Nepal failed to realise its dream for gold in cricket, players gave their good performance. He was hopeful that they could further improve their performance level and get the better of nations like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh if got more 'match exposure'.
Nepali Team captain Rubina Chhetri said the tournament was a learning for them, pledging to unlearn weaknesses in the future. The team of the Maldives said it was their first participation in the international tournament and it was an experience and learning for the team. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are meeting Sunday for the gold. Four nations: Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives have participated in the competition
