There are at least 71 active COVID-19 cases among traffic police personnel in Valley


KATHMANDU, Aug 29: At least 17 traffic police personnel at the Koteshwar-based Metropolitan Traffic Police Sector have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease on Saturday.

According to Superintendent of Police, Bamdev Gautam at the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, all traffic police personnel tested positive at Koteshwar are asymptomatic. “A few days ago, two personnel had tested positive for the virus. Following their test results, 32 were kept in quarantine,” said Gautam, adding that 17 of them have tested positive today.


With this, the number of traffic police personnel infected with the virus at the Koteshwar traffic police office stands at 19.


As of Saturday afternoon, the number of traffic police personnel infected with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley stands at 89. Of them, 18 have already recovered, according to Gautam.
