According to Superintendent of Police, Bamdev Gautam, all services of the division have been suspended until further notice. “The authorities concerned have already started contact tracing, and swab samples of exposed traffic policemen are being collected for testing,” said Gautam, who is also the spokesperson for the division.
“More than 300 policemen at the division are quarantined,” he added.
When asked if the reduction in the number of active traffic police officials will hamper the traffic management in the Kathmandu Valley, Gautam said the personnel will be deployed at busy junctions and streets as per the need.
He further added that the reduction in the number of personnel will not hamper regular traffic and drunk driving checkings.
