COVID-19 recovery rate plunges to 93.9 percent as COVID-19 death toll hits 3,122


KATHMANDU, April 23: Nepal added 2,559 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking its national COVID-19 case tally to 294,601.


According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 2,449 new cases of COVID-19 were detected through PCR tests and 110 through antigen tests in the past 24 hours.

The MoHP conducted as many as 8,798 PCR tests and 866 antigen tests in the past 24 hours.


With the surge in new cases of COVID-19 in recent days, Nepal’s COVID-19 recovery tally, which was once highest among SAARC countries, has plunged to 93.9 percent as of today.


There are currently 14,724 active cases of COVID-19 across the country.


Of the 2,559 new cases of COVID-19 detected across the country, as many as 937 cases were reported in the Kathmandu Valley alone. Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts in the valley recorded 760, 74 and 106 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, respectively.


Similarly, the MoHP recorded five more cases of fatality related to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
