KATHMANDU, Nov 24: During the first four months of the current fiscal year (FY), over 2,700 four-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs) were imported in Nepal. According to the Department of Customs (DoC), as many as 2,787 EVs worth Rs 6.83 billion were imported during the four months of the current FY. In the month of Kartik (mid-October to mid-November) of the current FY, 655 four-wheeler EVs arrived in Nepal.
In the period up to the first three months of the current FY, 2132 EVs were imported. According to the DoC, 1,279 EVs with a capacity of 50 kW were imported in the four months of the current FY, spending Rs 2.39 billion.

During the four months of the current FY, 1,481 EVs with a capacity of 51 kW to 100 kW were imported. The import of these vehicles is worth Rs 4.30 billion. During the period from mid-July to mid-November of the current FY, 17 EVs with a capacity of 101 kW to 200 kW were imported, incurring an expenditure of Rs 665 million.
Similarly, during the four months of the current FY, 10 vehicles with a capacity of more than 201 kilowatts were imported at a cost of Rs 68.7 million.
