246 women rescued from four bordering points in Banke in FY 2021/22

NEPALGUNJ, July 29: A total of 246 women at risk of trafficking were rescued from various four bordering points and one counseling center in Banke district in the last fiscal year.


The Peace Rehabilitation Home (PRH) from its four branches and one counseling center at Suiya, Khadaiya, Sheupuri and Jamunaha and Kohalpur rescued 32 women from Banke and Bardia each, 28 from Dang and 24 from Surkhet district.

Similarly, 20 women rescued were from Jajarkot and the same number of women rescued was from Salyan district. A total of 16 women from Rukum Paschim, 12 from Kailali and 11 from Dolakha were also rescued. 


The PRH also rescued 10 women each from Rolpa and Kalikot and five from Jumla district, according to the PRH’s Regional Coordinator Bhumiraj Bhattarai.


The rescued women are aged between 16-25 years. Stating that human trafficking is a very complex issue, Bhattarai informed that they have lately stepped up surveillance in 14 bordering points with India in Lumbini Province.
