Death toll in Ramechhap landslide climbs to 2 (with photos)

RAMECHHAP, July 16: RAMECHHAP, July 16: The death toll in Ramechhap lasndsllide has climbed to two after one more  dead body was found in the incident site. 


The deceaced are identifed as 60-year-old Bal Kumari Khatri and Basudev Karki. 


A person died  while four  others have gone missing as a landslide hit Khimti of Likhu Rural Municipality-6 in the district on Saturday night.

According to DSP Kumud Dhungel of Distric Police Office, Ramech, Ashok Tamang, 40, his 11-year-old daughter Manila Tamang, Basudev Karki, 45, Suman Kumari Khatri, 55, have  gone missing. 


Similarly, Suntali Khatri ,45, Kumar Khatri, Bhagawati, Radha Khatri and minor girl Pramisha Khatri, Bishal Budha of Banke, Rudra Gurung and Jag Bahadur Gharti of Surkhet have been injured.


The condition of Buda, Gurung and Jag Bahadur who are road construction workers among those injured is said to be critical. 


Preparations are underway to airlift them to Kathmandu for treatment. 


Nepal Police, Nepali Army and locals are carrying out rescue work.


According to police,  the monsoon-triggered landslide has also swept away three hoses and a suspension bridge along the Manthali-Dolakha road section.
