The search squad recovered the mortal remains of Sano Kanchhi Dong, 35, and her daughter, 4, according to police.

A joint team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel has been carrying out search and rescue operations since the landslide took place on August 14. Of the 39 people who went missing in the landslide debris, seven are yet to be traced.

“Although we are trying to take an excavator to the site, the difficult geographical condition in the area has impeded our effort,” said spokesperson for the Sindhupalchowk Police, DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle.

The landslide buried as many as 37 houses. Twenty-nine of them were completely damaged.

Locals were relocated to a nearby place called Manedanda following the landslide amid the heightened risk of other disasters.
