72 players called for preliminary selection

KATHMANDU, Nov 19: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has called 72 players in the first phase selection for the upcoming South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship to be held from December 26 to January 4 in Siliguri, India.

KATHMANDU, Nov 19: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has called 72 players in the first phase selection for the upcoming South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship to be held from December 26 to January 4 in Siliguri, India.


Among the 72 players, 52 are new faces selected from the recently held CoAS trophy while the remaining 20 are the members of 12th South Asian Games (SAG) silver medal-winning team.  Nepal, which is pitted in Group A, will kick off the tournament against Bhutan on December 26.

Similarly it will face the Maldives and Sri Lanka in other group stage matches on December 28 and 30 respectively.  Similarly, Group B comprises of defending champion India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.  


The semifinal matches of the competition will be played on January 2 while the final will be held on January 4. All the matches of the championship will be held at Kanchenjunga Stadium.
