Air pollution level drops to 68 µg/m3  between 4 and 5AM with highest reading of 198 µg/m3  between 9 and 10AM

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Though the air pollution level on Tuesday dropped to 68 µg/m3 early in the morning between 4 and 5, the dust particles began filling the air in Kathmandu, the federal capital city of the country, from 9AM as people started their normal activities. The highest PM 2.5 reading was measured in the country’s most populated city at 198 µg/m3.

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Though the air pollution level on Tuesday dropped to 68 µg/m3 early in the morning between 4 and 5, the dust particles began filling the air in Kathmandu, the federal capital city of the country, from 9AM as people started their normal activities. The highest PM 2.5 reading was measured in the country’s most populated city at 198 µg/m3.

The capital city, on Monday recorded the highest PM 2.5 reading of 242.78 µg/m3.


The level of dust particles in the air has exceeded the average level of healthy air as described by the World Organization (WHO). According to the WHO, normal PM 2.5 level should not exceed 25 µg/m3. Similarly, the government has set the threshold of 40 µg/m3 required for a healthy atmosphere.
