According to the Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN), the Civil Aviation Authority Nepal has permitted the airlines companies to raise the airfares in response to an increase in fuel surcharge. At the new airfare rates, passengers traveling from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi need to pay Rs 4,460, up from existing Rs 4,240.

Similarly, the flight charge to Surkhet from Kathmandu has been increased by Rs 175 to Rs 3,490. The fare of Doti-Sanfebagar has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 420, the least among the revised rates.

According to AOAN, it is compelled to increase air travel fares due to an escalating price of aviation turbine fuel in recent days. The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC)-- the sole distributor of petroleum products in the country-- recently hiked the prices of aviation fuel (domestic) by Rs 5.
