KATHMANDU, Jan 23: All examinations under the Institute of Medicine (IOM) scheduled for Monday have been postponed.
Due to the high risk of the COVID-19 pandemic, the IoM has announced the postponement of all health related programs, including the dental final year exams scheduled for January 24.
On Sunday morning, the Examination Control Division under IOM made public the information and stated that all theoretical and practical examinations of regular and re-examinations of various educational programs at all levels have been postponed.

IOM Dean Dr Dibya Singh said COVID-19’s risk was high and the dean's office had decided to postpone the exams as it was not suitable to conduct them at present. She said the dean's office had postponed the exam out of concern for the students’ health.
"The exams have been postponed until further notice due to the high prevalence of the global COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr Singh.
She added, "The dean's office has directed all bodies concerned to postpone the examination on the basis of this information."
The dental examinees are happy that the dean's office has made the right decision in time, i.e. postponed the exam and relieved the students from mental stress. At present most of the examinees have been experiencing cold and fever. "I have been suffering from cold and fever for two days now. I could not sleep all night because of the exam," said a student of People's Dental College in Chhetrapati.
