BHAIRAHAWA, Feb 25: The locals of Siddharthanagar Municipality have installed CCTV surveillance cameras in busy roads of the municipality in collaboration with Rupandehi Police.
A total of 32 modern CCTV cameras have been installed in busy markets of the municipality with an investment of Rs 2 million. On Monday, the locals handed over the cameras to the District Police Office, Rupandehi, amid a function.
According to Mahadev Pantha, chief district officer of Rupandehi, the CCTV surveillance cameras have been installed with the aim of reducing criminal activities in the society as well as minimizing road accidents.

“The surveillance cameras have been installed with investment from the private sector,” he said, adding that the CCTV cameras have been installed with the initiation from the private sector as banks and industries have been established in large number in the region lately.
“It will be easier to monitor the area with the help of technology,” he told Republica.
Likewise, Hem Kumar Thapa, chief of Rupandehi Police, said that the municipality will be under supervision round the clock.
“It will now be easier for police to monitor criminal activities in the area,” he added.
Rupandehi Police will monitor the footages of the surveillance cameras.
