KATHMANDU, Oct 29: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday filed a corruption case against three officials of the Land Revenue Office, Parasi, including an officer for forging the land ownership certificate of a piece of public land and selling it to a company.
Claiming that the officials forged the land ownership certificate in the name of an individual and sold the public land to Lumbini Gas Pvt. Ltd for a price of Rs 28.6 million, according to government evaluation. A representative of the company and a land broker, too, have been indicted in the case filed at the Special Court, Kathmandu.

The anti-graft constitutional body also accused the staffers — Land Revenue Officer Manohar Prasad Panthee, non-gazetted second class staff Jiblal Bhushal and computer operator Azzaz Khan for forging the land ownership certificate of the public land and selling it to the gas company.
According to Rameshwar Dangal, spokesperson for the CIAA, the officials have been charged under Section 8(1)(H) of the Corruption Prevention Act, 2002, claiming that they have caused a loss of Rs 28.6 million to the state. the CIAA has sought a jail sentence of up to ten years and Rs 28.6 million in fine.
The anti-graft body also made the representative of the Gas Company Surendra Raj Paudel and broker Sudan Shrestha who managed for selling the land to the Gas Company illegally.
