KATHMANDU, March 15: Conflict victims staged a sit-in program for an hour in front of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) on Wednesday demanding the transitional justice mechanism to begin detail investigation into the complaints they had filed at the commission.

The TRC officials asked some representatives from victims' side to come inside the office for dialogue but the victims rejected it and urged commissioners to come out. When the commissioners came out to meet them, the victims urged them to end the personal infightings within the commission and to start investigation on their complaints.

The TRC has been unable to start detail investigation over the complaints received from the armed conflict victims despite the extension of its tenure by one year.

"We have come to know that the TRC Chair Surya Kiran Gurung has not been coming to office for last one month. On the other hand, we have been reading media reports about the infightings between the commissioners. In this scenario, we staged the sit-in to pressurize the commission to start investigation on our complaints," said Suman Adhikari, a conflict victim.
