Constitution amendment to move ahead: NC leader Koirala

KATHMANDU, July 27: Nepali Congress General Secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala on Thursday said the constitution amendment proposal registered in Legislature Parliament would be proceeded.

KATHMANDU, July 27: Nepali Congress General Secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala on Thursday said the constitution amendment proposal registered in Legislature Parliament would be proceeded. 


Talking with office bearers and members of the central committee of Nepal Press Union (NPU), NC-aligned journalists' organisation, who called on Koirala at his residence in Maharajgunj, the NC leader said, "most of the committee members also stand in the way of the amendment. And maximum efforts are on to get the proposal passed so as to address the demands of Madhes-centric political parties. But all is not left to us (NC) in this regard." 

Commenting on the question, the trend of power sharing is increasing within the party? raised by media-persons, Dr Koirala termed this trend efforts to bring all to consensus. He however said his efforts would always be there to end such practice.

Also on the occasion, the NPU's President Badri Sigdel stressed the need for having a common characteristic of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ). 


Pledging to pick capable candidates from the NPU for the next general convention of the FNJ through a fair manner, he also called for any political party to refrain from interfering with journalism. 


Office bearers and members including former presidents of the NPU and FNJ were also present at the meeting. RSS
