Coordination committee formed to celebrate Marx's bicentennial birth anniversary

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: A two-day conference of leaders and cadres of various communist parties in Nepal has formed a 61-member national coordination committee to celebrate the bicentennial birth anniversary of Karl Marx with programs round the year.

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: A two-day conference of leaders and cadres of various communist parties in Nepal has formed a 61-member national coordination committee to celebrate the bicentennial birth anniversary of Karl Marx with programs round the year.


The conference has named CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal as the coordinator of the committee while CPN (Maoist Center) leader Surendra Kumar Karki has been named as the deputy-coordinator.

The conference organized in Kathmandu on Monday and Tuesday discussed various political and social issues from the Marxist lens and urged communist parties and leaders in the country to unite to move forward in the direction of socialism.


Besides the coordination committee, the conference also formed a 673-member Karl Marx Bicentennial Birth Anniversary Celebration Ceremony Committee. The conference was organized to discuss Marxism and decide programs to celebrate the bicentennial birth anniversary of Karl Marx in Nepal. Karl Marx, the political philosopher who propounded socialism, was born on May 5, 1818 in Germany.
