TIKAPUR, July 31: A couple has gone missing after a jeep (Ba 11 Cha 138) they were traveling in fell into the Karnali River. According to Police Inspector Puskar Panta, the police have not been able to take out the vehicle from the river.
The swollen river and low visibility in the river have been problematic in the search for the bodies, Panta said. “Search for the missing people is still underway but the murky water has made the work difficult,” he added
The missing couple has been identified as Chandra Prakash Joshi and his wife Ruby Joshi from Adarsh Rural Municipality of Doti district. According to police, their vehicle had fallen off the Batase cliff, three kilometers away from Karnali Chisapani in north Mohanyal Rural Municipality-7.

Three children who were aboard the jeep along with the couple have been found injured on the bank of the river. The three children have been identified to be 12-year-old Laxmi Joshi, 4-year-old Sabitri Joshi and 2-year-old Bhuwan Joshi and are children of the missing couple. It has been learnt that Chandra Joshi had been driving the jeep during the time of the incident.
Police have speculated the jeep to have plummeted into the river while trying to reverse it. Joshi and his family met with the accident while returning to their home from Nepalgunj.
Similarly, the dead body of a child, who had drowned in the Kandra River in Bhajani Municipality of Kailali has been recovered. The body was found three kilometers away from the scene of the incident. The deceased child has been identified as six-year-old Anu Singh, daughter of Dhan Bahadur Singh.
Earlier, police had also found the dead bodies of nine-year-old Laxmi Singh, also the older daughter of Dhan Bahadur Singh and seven-year-old Jenny Chaudhary, daughter of Rampal Chaudhary. The three children died due to drowning in the river. Every year many children lose their lives while swimming in the river.
