KATHMANDU, July 2: As many as 2,299 new cases of the coronavirus disease were detected on Friday.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) said that 10,596 tests --- 6,566 RT-PCR tests and 4,030 antigen tests -- were carried out across the country.

Meanwhile, 3,451 COVID-19 patients got over the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 603,600, and meaning the recovery rate docked at 94 percent of the total infections. As of Friday afternoon, Nepal’s COVID-19 casetally stands at 678,808.
As many as 29,274 patients, however, are yet to recover from the disease.
Officials at the ministry also confirmed 34 more deaths due to the viral disease on Friday. Since May 16, 2020, when the first COVID-19 death was reported, 9,179 people have lost their lives to the deadly disease in the country.
