KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel has accused leaders of the rival faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, of splitting the party.
Addressing a mass gathering organized by the KP Oli-led faction of NCP in Kathmandu on Saturday, Pokherel maintained that Dahal and Nepal were hell-bent on ousting Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from his post which led to a vertical split in the NCP.

He also accused Dahal of trying to gain control over NCP. “Dahal has been against the agreement made during the party unity since the very beginning,” he added.
Pokharel also said that the Dahal-Nepal faction has been obstructing PM Oli and his government from carrying out development activities. “They were afraid of being left behind.”
