KATHMANDU, Dec 17: The odd-even rule which is being enforced for vehicles operating in Kathmandu district will be removed from Friday.
A meeting of the government authorities concerned, transport entrepreneurs and representatives of trade unions held at the District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu, made a decision to this effect on Thursday.

In a public notice, the DAO, Kathmandu, stated that the odd-even rule will be lifted from tomorrow as it continued receiving complaints from various business houses that their economic activities were affected due to the odd-even rule.
Although the odd even rule for vehicles was imposed to curb the spread of the coronavirus, it could not be effective as people grossly violated the rules. With the presence of only a few vehicles on the road, the public vehicles remained overcrowded, hardly making any contribution to controlling the spread of coronavirus transmission, authorities said.
The DAO, Kathmandu, also urged transport entrepreneurs to operate vehicles by adhering to health safety protocols.
