KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Thaneshwor Devkota has been elected the president of the Tourist Guide Association of Nepal (TURGAN).
The 30th annual general meeting of TURGAN that concluded on Thursday evening elected Devkota as its new president. He defeated his closest contender Kumar Puri.

Tanka Prasad Duwadi, Rohit Kumar Phunyal have been elected as General-Secretary and Treasurer respectively while Prabha Laxmi Pradhananga, Shukadev Sigdel and Uttam Prasad Devkota were already elected to the post of Senior President, First President and Second President respectively unopposed.
Chief Election Officer Ramesh Khatiwada told RSS that Rajendra Bajracharya, Narayan Budhathoki, Ramhari Timsina and Saraswoti Ghimire were the members of the new working committee.
Inaugurating the AGM, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Dr Deepak Kafle, urged tourist guides to disseminate a positive message about Nepal in the international arena, treating the foreign guests with good manners.
