BEIJING, Oct 20: The health condition of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha is normal.
Issuing a statement Thursday afternoon, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing, shared, "Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha is fully conscious with stable vital signs." DPM Shrestha is currently in the ICU for ongoing monitoring and treatment.
"In the early morning today, Shrestha presented to the Emergency Room of the International Medical Services at Peking Union Medical College Hospital with complaints of chest discomfort that lasted for two hours. He was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction and was immediately taken to the Cath lab. Emergency coronary angiography showed an occlusion in the obtuse marginal branch and significant stenosis in the left anterior descending artery. A stent was promptly placed in the obtuse marginal branch, alleviating his chest pain," reads the statement.

DPM Shrestha, who is in Beijing of China to participate in Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, suffered acute myocardial infarction on Wednesday night.
High-ranking officials of the Chinese government and Communist Party of China have directed the hospital administration to adopt advanced technology and to pay special attention to his treatment, it is said.
Nepali ambassador to China, Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, visited DPM Shrestha and wished him a speedy recovery.
Ambassador Shrestha said that DPM Shrestha’s condition is normal and he is able to talk.
