Dr Karki intensifies her election campaign after SC orders EC not to scarp her candidacy

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: After the Supreme Court (SC) ordered the Election Commission (EC) not to cancel the candidature of Dr Toshima Karki of the National Independent Party, she has intensified her election campaign. Dr Karki is a candidate for the House of Representatives from Lalitpur-3.

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: After the Supreme Court (SC) ordered the Election Commission (EC) not to cancel the candidature of Dr Toshima Karki of the National Independent Party, she has intensified her election campaign. Dr Karki is a candidate for the House of Representatives from Lalitpur-3.


Last Tuesday, a single bench of Supreme Court Justice Kumar Chudal issued an interim order in the name of the Election Commission not to immediately implement the decision to cancel Dr Karki's candidature. The court has also asked for a written reply from the commission regarding the reasons for rejecting her candidature.

After the order of the court, Dr Karki has intensified her election campaigning. Karki, who is running in the elections against candidates including Pampha Bhusal of the CPN (Maoist Center), said that she was excited by the love and harmony shown by the voters during her door-to-door campaign.


The party led by Ravi Lamichhane released its manifesto on Thursday which  included a directly elected prime minister, non-political president, abolition of the constitutional council, etc.
