KATHMANDU, Nov 14: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the continuation of the interim order given earlier in the case of Dr Toshima Karki, Rashtriya Swatantra Party candidate for the House of Representatives from Lalitpur Constituency number 3. A joint bench of SC justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Til Prasad Shrestha continued the interim order while hearing the 'vacate' filed by the Election Commission (EC).
Karki was nominated as a candidate of member of the HoR from Lalitpur Constituency No 3 in the upcoming elections to be held on November 20. But the EC had earlier decided to disqualify Dr Toshima Karki from the election arguing that she held a public post as an elected member of Nepal Medical Council (NMC).

After initial hearings on a writ petition filed by Dr Karki against the EC’d decision, the Supreme Court (SC) had issued an interim order on November 1 not to immediately implement the decision to disqualify the candidacy of Dr Karki.
Against that, the EC filed a separate petition at the SC on November 6. In the petition, the commission had demanded to cancel the interim order.
Today, after hearing on EC’s application, SC continued the interim order. The SC has said, "As the legal question raised by the petitioner will be resolved in the full hearing, the interim order issued by this court on 07/15/2079 does not have to be revoked as requested by the Election Commission."
