Eight-party alliance lawmakers to receive orientation today

KATHMANDU, March 2: An orientation session relating to the presidential election will be organized today for the House of Representatives and National Assembly members of the recently-formed eight-party alliance.

KATHMANDU, March 2: An orientation session relating to the presidential election will be organized today for the House of Representatives and National Assembly members of the recently-formed eight-party alliance.


Coordinated and managed by one of the coalition partners, Nepali Congress, the session will take place at Royal Banquet at Tinkune, Kathmandu, at 1PM, said NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel. Parliamentarians belonging to the eight-party coalition (NC, maoist Center, Janata Samajwadi Party, Unified Socialist, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Nagarik Unmukti Party) will participate in the orientation session, he said.

The top leaders of the alliance are scheduled to address the session, and urge the parliamentarians to vote for the alliance candidate Ram Chandra Paudel in the presidential election.


Supported by the eight-party alliance, Paudel has fielded his candidacy for the coveted post. Similarly, the CPN-UML has fielded party Vice-Chairperson Subash Chandra Nembang for the position. The presidential election is taking place on March 9.
