Fake Bhutanese refugee scam: Recording statements of all accused over, further hearing to begin from Sunday

KATHMANDU, June 3: The District Court Kathmandu has completed recording statements of 18 people arrested in connection with a fake Bhutanese refugee scam.


Recording of statements of former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, Bhutanese human rights leader Teknath Rijal and Hari Bhakta Maharjan was undertaken on Saturday by the bench of judge Prem Prasad Neupane.

The statements of 15 arrestees were recorded as of June 1. Further hearing is beginning on Sunday.


Chief of District Attorney Office Achyut Mani Neupane said recording statements of all defendants were completed on Friday. As informed, 12 defendants of the scam are still at large.
