KATHMANDU, April 28: A fire that erupted in the Shankhamul area in Kathmandu on Sunday afternoon caused extensive damage.
The blaze engulfed a vehicle workshop near Dobhan bridge, spreading to adjacent shops. Among the affected were a motor garage, a betel leaf shop, a tea shop, a fish shop and a fruit shop, according to police.

Additionally, a motorcycle garage sustained damage from the fire, although comprehensive details regarding the extent of the damage are yet to be received.
Initial firefighting efforts were undertaken by two fire engines from Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality, followed by the arrival of a fire truck from Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Local police and residents were also involved in dousing the fire. The fire has now been brought under complete control.
