Four Nepali swimmers to participate in championship

KATHMANDU, July 19: Four Nepali players are participating in the World Aquatic Championship-2023 to be held in Fukuoka City of Japan.

KATHMANDU, July 19: Four Nepali players are participating in the World Aquatic Championship-2023 to be held in Fukuoka City of Japan.


Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC) Tanka Lal Ghising saw off the Nepali players participating in the championship with best wishes.


In the championship which is the Olympic qualifier competition, Gaurika Singh, Alexander Gadegad Shah, Duwana Lama and Nasir Yahya Hussein are taking part on behalf of Nepal.

The Nepali team led by Chairperson of Nepal Swimming Association Ashok Bajhracharya comprises Olympian, team coach Nayana Shakya, team manager Naresh Baidya and official Sanjaya Shah.


Chairperson Bajhracharya will also participate in the World Aquatic Congress to be held in course of the championship on July 23-29.


Under the championship, Nasir will compete in 400-meter freestyle on July 23 while Gaurika will compete in 700 meter backstroke on July 24. On the same day (July 24), Nasir will compete in 200 meter freestyle.


As informed, Duwana will take part in the championship event in 200 meter freestyle on July 25 while Gaurika to play 500 meter backstroke on July 26. Alexander will compete in 100 meter freestyle


Duwana will participate in the 100 meter freestyle on July 27 and Alexander will take part in a swimming competition in 50 meter freestyle on July 28. Nepali team will fly to Japan on July 19.
