NEPALGUNJ, April 28: A young man sustained injuries in Banke when his self-made pistol was accidentally fired.


Sachin Tharu, a 16-year-old resident of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality 5, Rapti, was injured in the incident.

According to SP Tul Bahadur Karki at the District Police Office, Banke, the incident occurred around midnight on Saturday. He said that Tharu accidentally fired the pistol while attempting to retrieve it from his pants. SP Karki reported that the bullet from the pistol struck the back of Tharu's right leg.


Tharu, who sustained injuries, is currently being treated at Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital, Kohalpur, according to police sources. Injured Tharu informed the police in his initial statement that he learned to craft the pistol by watching YouTube videos. He used wood and iron to create a pistol-like weapon.


Police said that the investigation is underway.
