On Wednesday, 40-year-old Shah was gunned down near the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) district office. Shah, who was critically injured, breathed his last while he was being rushed to Janakpur Regional Hospital.

Police have already arrested a local resident Pankaj Chaudhary, a construction entrepreneur,  on the charge of murdering Shah.

It has been learnt that Chaudhary had borrowed money from Shah. But, Chaudhary had not returned the money despite reminders from Shah. Then, Chaudhary shot Shah near the NEA office. Police also recovered a pistol and bullets from Chaudhary on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, consumers were hit by the decision of the association to shut the fuel stations of the province. The consumers were compelled to pay higher prices for fuels on Saturday.

Shah was the operator of New Shiva Oil Stores in Sapahi, Dhanusa. Police have filed two cases against Chaudhary - one for possessing an illegal weapon and the other for murder.
